Ah, the Chinese. Their forward thinking and ability to adapt shall leave us all breathless soon enough. Although there are curbs on what the populace can browse on the Internet, they are all set to classify Internet browsing as a clinical disorder. What's worse, they plan to put in in the same bracket as compulsive gambling or alcohol addiction!
One of the major reasons cited for this move is that almost 4 million users under the age of 18 (that's roughly 10 percent of the Internet population) is addicted to 'unhealthy' online games. This is worse when one considers that 18 percent of US Internet users were classified as 'addicts' as against 42 per cent in China.
Now, we think that either those Chinese games are really something or perhaps this excess Internet use has something to do with other bans that China has in place. Including porn... except when the Olympics were on! No wonder the entire population was so excited about the Games in August!
